About Morella House
Morella was built in the mid 70's using reclaimed and recycled materials. The name Morella originates from the suburb of Clare, Morella. The magnificent stone work in the home was obtained from 6 old homes dotted throughout Clare.
The doors have also come from local homes and have been, shortened or lengthened to suit, as has the stained glass used in the ground floor windows. Architecturally designed in the shape of a key, the builder was a little on the eccentric side. The Vanilla was to be the first Bed and Breakfast in Clare. As it happened the original builders parted ways and this did not happen. The Cherry was the original garage and store rooms, the stone work and brick ceiling are masterpieces, as are the Baronial doors which were handmade. The first floor of Morella was unfinished when the next owners took over.
They finished the home and then sold to the present owners who, refurbished and redecorated to transform this home to what are now, one of the most unique B & B properties in the Clare Valley. Morella has been running for 4 years and is still a project in motion.
